ZAKK WYLDE's Missing Guitar Is Back!
November 17, 2003Zakk Wylde's famous Bullseye Les Paul guitar has finally been returned to its rightful owner after more than three years.
In 2000, while traveling from Dallas to Houston, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY were pulled over due to their truck's back doors being open. Upon investigating the truck's contents, the band discovered that two guitars were found missing. One was a replica that was recovered on July 4 by an observant woman traveling behind the truck. A reward was posted for the beloved "Grail", but to no avail.
As of today, November 17, 2003, "The Grail" has returned home. A medical technician from Dallas area made the move. Jerry Weisenger e-mailed longtime friend and attorney Randy Canis (original webmaster for Zakk) and told him of "The Grail"'s travels. Apparently, the guitar made it to a pawn shop in Dallas. It was purchased just to be, once again, sold back to another pawn shop. Jerry Weisenger's friend, who pawned the guitar, was not able to pay the price to retrieve it, so Jerry helped out and paid for it. The friend never came by with the money so Jerry decided to keep it. The guitar was stored for seven months before he pulled it out to clean it. He pulled the pick-ups out and saw "ZW" engraved into the backs of them. That's when he knew for sure what he had always suspected — that this was Zakk Wylde's guitar.
The story is amazing and Zakk is currently celebrating the guitar's return. For a full detailed account of this tale, go to www.zakkwylde.com.
